Photographing people for emotive images

The complete portraiture workshop by Tizia May

Learn the skills of photographing families from Tizia May herself, one of Melbourne’s leading wedding and portrait photographers.

During this 3-hour workshop you will be taught the steps from beginning to end as to how Tizia captures emotive photographs that resinate with her clients.

You will experience a live family portrait shoot set in a leafy Ringwood park where you will learn key shooting tips. These include: how to confidently setup for a shoot, what camera settings and equipment to use for different scenarios and how to find the best light, positioning and background for your subjects.

The next step of this workshop will take place at Tizia’s studio, a short drive away. Here you’ll see how she goes from shooting a family to the final finished product for her clients, including editing in Lightroom. This part of the workshop will focus on post-production editing, workflow, cataloguing and exporting.

This workshop is suitable for those wanting to take their portrait photography skills to the next level and those thinking about growing family portrait photography from being a hobby into a potential business.

Tizia is a proud Nikon user, and as an added bonus Nikon will be supporting this event. A Nikon representative will be on hand for the workshop with a variety of lenses on display that Tizia may demonstrate with. This workshop is a learning opportunity to grow your own family and portrait photography skills by learning from an industry professional. Participants will not be shooting but are encouraged to bring a notepad and pen to take notes of invaluable tips of advice.

Areas covered in this workshop will be:
